WINEMAKER NOTES

The 2006 NO Sauvignon Blanc is comprised of fruit from two distinct blocks of our Lake County Estate Vineyards.

The "Grange Hall Vineyard" is typical of the great Lake County Sauvignon Blanc vineyards: sitting on the valley floor, this block is planted in richer soils with a East/West vine orientation. The clay based loam soils have good water retention, leading to fruit with round supple flavors. The East/West sun orientation ensures even ripening and a balanced canopy. This block provides the body of the wine and exotic   flavors of melon, guava, and other tropical fruits.

The "Hill Ranch" vineyard is planted in a gravely loam with a North/South sun exposure. It has much better drainage leading to smaller berry formation and more intense flavors. The change in vine orientation gives the fruit an added ripeness, yet it retains incredible acidity due to the shorter growing season. This block provides the wine with the amazing grapefruit aromas and complex minerality.

The fruit from these two blocks was harvested between 22.5° and 23.5 ° brix to achieve the optimal balance of ripe fruit, structure, and acidity.

Enjoy "NO" with light appetizers, salads and seafood entrees, or just by itself!

Screw caps not only ensure that your wine will not be "corked", but this closure is also a guarantee of consistency. Every bottle of NO Sauvignon Blanc will be as good and fresh as the last.
